always and nevers

I've been tagged by Caitlin of the awesome Nice to name my fashion related alwayses and nevers. I don't normally talk about fashion type things on the blog, but it's been interesting thinking about the things I normally wear.  The nevers are much easier to think of than the alwayses. Okay, here goes.

ALWAYS

1.  It's gotten to the stage where I almost feel kind of uncomfortable without all kinds of strings and ribbons tied around my wrists at all times.

2.  I would wear a cardigan every single day if I didn't live in Southern California where it gets unbearably hot during the summer.

3.  Flats.  Sorry that the insides of my shoes are so gross.

4.  Color.  As you can see, I'm don't own a lot of black or white things.  I like neutrals a lot, but usually when paired with softer color.

5.  Now that I'm married I will always be wearing my wedding ring.  I really like this ring.  It's rose gold with flowers engraved all over it.  We looked all over at flea markets and various pawn shop type places for something cool and about 3 days before the wedding we went to a small ring retailer in Pasadena and found it in a catalogue, which I thought would be unlikely. The photograph of it isn't the best, but I what can I say?  I wish I had a Canon 5D.

NEVER

1.  I agree with Caitlin on this one.  No sweatpants or sweat suits ESPECIALLY with anything written on the butt and/or if it's made out of velour.  Sometimes ladies come into work wearing those things and I can't believe that they took the time to blow dry their hair straight, put on tons of makeup and then throw on those disgusting things.

2.  Heels.  Especially not out shopping or to work.  I think they look nice for the most part, but I am uncomfortable in them.  Check out these heels.  Pretty hot, yes?

3.  Animal print.

4.  High fashion designer label brands.

5.  Glitter or sequins on clothing.

So overall, I guess I dress pretty boring, but I like dressing comfortably and kind of simply.  But anyways, to move this tagging business right along, I guess I'll tag Atlantic Treefox and Paper Owl?  I apologize if you've been tagged already.  I don't really know very many people yet in this online craft community.
Thanks Caitlin!

a cook book and pattern book

I have known about Frankie Magazine for some time even though I have never actually seen it in person before.  However, I did not know that they had published a sweet looking cook book called Afternoon Tea.  There are other books named Afternoon Tea and they should not be confused with this one.

This is the other book I wanted to share.  It is from a series called Petite Pattern Book from Japan.  They are small books full of awesome patterns and a cd of eps and jpeg files to be used for whatever you want!  I want the Japanese Style book.  There are a bunch of others including Scandinavian Style, Check and Stripe, Simple and Natural, Flowers and Leaves, and more!  You can get them here.

i'm pretty much done!!

I have completed the majority of the flag pennant banners for my sister's wedding!  They look pretty good although these pictures are not good.  It's hard to find a spot to hang them in my apartment in order to take a picture when I can't nail holes in the wall to hold it up.  You can't really see the fabric patterns very well, but they're cool.  I will have much awesomer pictures of them and other crafts we will make for the wedding after June 28th!

my sister's wedding

My sister is getting married this June!  This picture is of a new project to decorate the beautiful forest area she is gettin' hitched at.  The place is called Treehouse Point and you can stay there in either a treehouse or a lodge.  It's beautiful and I'm quite excited to see her get married there.  Here are some photos of the place in Issaquah, Washington.

rifle design by anna bond

So I pretty much have a huge crush on this lady's excellent design work. My favorite kind of graphic design is when it is handmade design. She usually paints her invitations by hand, but the most recent one on her blog is a paper cut out design. Here is her website where you can see all of her work and here is her awesome blog that is updated quite regularly with all kinds of interesting and inspiring things.  I am quite excited to see everything she produces in the future.
